Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) every year for the under graduate courses. From this year onward Karnataka CET 2017 is going online. KEA has taken this decision because all the major entrance exams are online. For the first year they planning to keep both online and offline structure but after that they would only be having the online structure. The students from rural places are the maximum who opt KCET hence there were many opposition to the decision of going online. The notification for Karnataka CET 2017 is released and is inviting all the ambitious candidates for the exam.

The number of students who appeared for Karnataka CET 2016 were 1.71 Lakhs and this year the authority is hoping to get applications of around 2lakhs.
Karnataka CET 2017 – Important Dates:
- Release of notice: 12.12.2016
- Commencement of Application Form: Second week of January 2017
- Closure of Application Form: First week of February 2017
- Release of Admit Card: Third week of April 2017
Karnataka CET Exam Date 2017-
- Biology & Mathematics – 02.05.2017
- Physics & Chemistry – 03.05.2017
- Kannada Language Test (only Bangalore) – 04.05.2017
- Declaration of Result: First week of June 2017
Karnataka CET 2017- Eligibility:
- KEA is conducting CET for all the undergraduate courses for the students of Science Stream. The courses range from Engineering, Ayurveda, Unani, Technology, Farm Science Courses and Naturopathy & Yoga.
- CET is conducted to get admission into government, aided and private colleges in the state of Karnataka.
- For Medical and Dental Courses candidates have to appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) – 2017 by CBSE.
- For Architecture Course candidates have to appear for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) – 2017 by Council of Architecture.
Eligibility Criteria
- According to the authority to appear for KCET, the candidate has to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria to undertake the exam.
- Candidates from Karnataka and Jammu Kashmir can appear for KCET. NRI candidates having permission from Medical/Dental Council of India can take the test.
- The candidate has to be 17 years till December 31 of the academic year and there is relaxation of 3-4 years for special category candidates.
- The candidate should have qualified class 12 exam or any equivalent exam from the recognized board with subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Medical) or Math (Engineering).
- The eligibility criteria for the exam of KCET 2017 requires candidate of General Category to secure at least 50% and for SC/ST/OBC the minimum qualifying marks are 40%.
Karnataka CET Exam 2017 – Application Form:
- The Application Form for the exam would be soon available on the official website www.kea.kar.nic.in
- This year, the form will be available online and the verification of the documents will also be online.
- The application fee for General Category is Rs. 650 and for ST/SC/OBC is Rs. 500
In Karnataka the authority have introduced CET course coaching on Doordarshan and it’s very successful and lakhs of candidate benefit from the program.
